7+ Entry & Scholarships

We are very excited to launch our 7+ Scholarship this academic year. All applicants (internal and external) must register for the assessment via the form below. Please scroll to the end of the page for frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions – 7+ Entrance at The Lyceum School

Who is eligible?
Both prospective and current pupils entering Year 3 in September 2021 are eligible to participate in our scholarship assessments. The expectation is that awarded candidates will remain at The Lyceum School until the end of Year 6.

What scholarships are available?
There are three scholarships available each year. Two scholarships are awarded to children who show academic excellence and one for musical talent.

How much is the scholarship worth?
Candidates who perform best in the 7+ entrance exam are awarded academic scholarships to a maximum of 15% for the duration of the pupil’s time at The Lyceum.

Musical talent is also recognised as part of the scholarship process and children may receive a bursary to cover the cost of two music lessons per week during term time.

Please note, if a current pupil who is already in receipt of any discount applies, the scholarship award will replace the discount and not be added to overall fee remission.

Can I apply for different scholarships if my child shows ability in both academia and music?
Yes. Please indicate on the application form which scholarships you would like your child to be considered for.

How does a candidate apply?
Only pupils who will be entering Year 3 in September 2021 can apply. All applicants (internal and external) must register for the assessment via our website. Our Registrar will confirm your application and send you the full details of the next steps.

What are the key dates?
Closing date for applicants: Friday 15th January 2021

Assessment and Audition Date: Wednesday 20th January 2021

How are pupils selected?
There will be a number of assessments and all candidates will be interviewed by a member of the senior leadership team.

When will I know if my child has been offered a scholarship?
We will write to inform you of the outcome within a week of the assessment date.

It is unlikely that all pupils who apply will be awarded a scholarship. We will ensure that the assessment day is enjoyable for all candidates.

Can we have a tour of the school before the assessment day?
Yes of course (COVID permitting)! We encourage families to tour our wonderful school. There is nothing quite like being able to see how much the children love coming to school, engaging in their learning and interacting with their peers, as well as experiencing our impressive 5-storey building so you can get a proper ‘feel’ of The Lyceum School.
