Sustainability Week

On Monday, Reception to Year 4 enjoyed a workshop about Food Growing and Compost, led by Miss Catia from Eco Active, an environmental charity in Hackney. The children discussed where food is grown and came up with some solutions to tackle food waste, which they learned contributes to climate change. They learned how worms can break down food scraps and make compost, and even had the opportunity to see the worms in action!

On Friday, the Eco Council, along with special helpers Ben, Noah and Jack Logan, headed to Chalkwell Beach for a beach clean. They spent the day discovering just how much plastic and other rubbish is buried beneath the rocks and sand. The group tidied up many, many pieces of rubbish, both big and small! Well done to the Eco Council and our special helpers for their fantastic effort and attitude toward helping the environment.

We hope you were able to take advantage of our second-hand uniform sale this week, and we are thankful for all of the donations we received. Together we are saving many items of clothing from ending up in the bin and reducing the need to buy new. A big thanks to Clare Hughes for organising and running the sale!
