Welcome

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to The Lyceum, a unique co-educational day school for children aged 4 – 11-years old in the heart of the City of London.

I am sure that every Head says this about their school, but The Lyceum truly is a special place.

Everyone who visits remarks on the palpable energy, happiness and how confident, kind, creative and community-minded our pupils are.

What they feel are the magic ingredients that bring our school to life – they see how:

Our children develop a deep love of learning

We inspire a love of learning through our exciting, topic-based curriculum where we use London as our classroom.

We challenge the status quo

Our children think critically, and problem solve, especially through our STEAM education.

Our children see every day as an adventure

We encourage a risk-taking and adventurous approach where exciting learning happens every day.

Our school is full of laughter and happiness

Every child is valued, listened to, and celebrated.

Our children are kind, confident, and creative

We prepare them to be resilient, entrepreneurial and philanthropic equipped with a set of skills to make a positive contribution to the world.

We are a community

We take pride in our diverse and multi-cultural community; a true reflection of 21st century London.

We create treasured moments

We don’t want our busy working parents to miss out. We work in strong partnership with parents, inviting them to join us for assemblies, workshops and enjoy lunch with their children.

Pupil Wellbeing

Nothing is more important than your child, and we do all we can to prepare them for life today, tomorrow and the future.

Through our small class sizes, our staff team form strong connections with our pupils and our house system encourages community building and facilitates peer-to-peer support and encouragement. These are fundamental relationships that help our pupils thrive and understand who they are.

We understand today’s complicated world for children and help our young people develop their inner strength to be able to thrive in it. Through an interwoven PSHE curriculum and mindfulness approach, we provide them with a toolkit to support their physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. We teach them how to eat healthily, stay balanced and regulate their emotions through breathing exercises, yoga and reflection time.

Academic results are important – and our pupils go on to achieve stellar results at the 11+ – but we prioritise their happiness. This preparation puts them in good stead not just for their next step into senior school, but for their entire adult lives.

Embracing a STEAM curriculum

Many of the jobs our pupils will have do not yet exist. Preparing them for this world begins as early as Reception and our topic-based curriculum centres on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM).

Our new technology hub allows our children opportunities to be creative, innovative and prepared for life in the 21st century.

We are a school for busy, professional parents

Our location is perfect for those who work or live in the City, and our wrap-around care gives you peace of mind from 8am-5:45pm each day.

Breakfast club starts at 8am and from 3:45pm we offer an extensive range of after school clubs offering everything from creative arts and coding, to sing and sign and fencing.

As busy parents we also don’t want you to miss out, so regularly invite you to join us during assemblies, for lunch and during themed weeks at school.

We would love to welcome you to our community

We know our children’s days here at ones they will remember for their rest of their lives; every day is an adventure, filled with fun and laughter alongside academic excellence.

You are warmly invited to come visit and see our wonderful school in action.
