Choosing a school is one of the biggest decisions you will make for your child, and nothing beats seeing a school at work. Our private school open days let families of children aged 4 to 11 step inside The Lyceum on an ordinary school morning. You can meet our Headmaster, teachers and pupils, and see our ethos in action in the classroom. If none of our dates suit you, we are always happy to arrange a personal prep school visit at a time that works for your family. Why Visit The Lyceum School?

The Lyceum is a small, co-educational independent school for children aged 4 to 11, set in a bright five-storey building on Worship Street in the City of London. Since our founding in 1997, we have combined creativity with academic ambition, and that balance is easy to see on a visit:
- Small class sizes mean every child is known as an individual by every member of staff.
- Specialist teaching in music, Spanish, art and games runs alongside a topic-based curriculum that brings History, Geography, Science and STEAM to life.
- Individual learning means teachers plan around each child’s strengths, interests and next steps.
- Pastoral care is at the heart of daily life, supported by our House system, Wellbeing Council and a Headmaster who reads the Worry Box every day.
- Our central London location puts museums, galleries, theatres and Royal Parks on our doorstep. We also have our own playground and an adjoining astro pitch, both rare in the City.
- Academic excellence shows in our leavers’ results. In 2025–26, our Year 6 pupils received 47 offers from 24 senior schools, and 93% gained a place at their first-choice school.
- A creative curriculum includes our dedicated STEAM Studio, specialist Art and Science rooms, and music, drama and yoga every week.

What to Expect at Our Open Days
Our Open Mornings give you an honest picture of a normal school day. A typical visit includes:
- A warm welcome. When you arrive, you’ll receive a welcome pack with our prospectus and admissions information, along with light refreshments.
- An introduction from the Headmaster. Mr Mike Stanley introduces The Lyceum, our values and our approach to learning, often after a short musical performance by our pupils.
- Learning in action. You’ll see pupils at work, which may include a pupil-led phonics lesson, and hear what makes their school day special.
- A tour of the school. Walk through our classrooms and specialist spaces, including a hands-on demonstration in our STEAM Studio.
- Meeting teachers and pupils. Chat to the staff who would teach your child and ask current pupils what they love about The Lyceum. They are always our best ambassadors.
- Time for your questions. The morning ends with a Q&A and the chance for one-to-one conversations about admissions, fees and school life.

- Flexible appointments arranged around your schedule during the school day.
- An individual tour of the school, at your own pace.
- A personal conversation about your child’s interests, needs and next steps.
- Plenty of time for questions about the curriculum, pastoral care, clubs and wrap-around care.
- Tailored admissions advice covering entry points, assessments and availability in your child’s year group.

Admissions & Next Steps
Visiting is often the first step in joining The Lyceum. We welcome children into our Reception class following their fourth birthday, and we consider applications for Years 2 to 6 when places are available. For Reception, families meet the Headmaster and children spend a little time in the classroom with us. For older year groups, children also complete short English and maths assessments so we can be sure they will settle happily and thrive.
