Life at The Lyceum, a central London independent school
Choosing the right school for your child is a significant decision. At The Lyceum School, an independent co-ed school, we understand that parents want more than just academic excellence, they seek a nurturing environment where their child can grow, explore, and thrive. Here’s a glimpse into what it’s like to study at our school.
Central location for busy parents
Situated in the heart of London, The Lyceum is ideally positioned for families living or working in and around the City. The school is easily accessible by public transport, with Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Shoreditch High Street, and Old Street stations all just a short walk away. Its central location also makes it an easy journey from nearby areas such as Islington, Hackney, and Camden. Whether you’re commuting by tube, train, or bike, getting to school is convenient, quick, and stress-free.
A warm and welcoming environment
From the moment you step through our doors, you’ll feel the warmth and vibrancy of our community. Our five-storey building is designed to inspire curiosity and creativity. Inside, you’ll find bright classrooms and a dedicated STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) space known as “The Owlery.” Outside, our rare central London playground provides ample space for children to play and explore.

Uniforms that reflect our identity
At The Lyceum, our school uniform is more than just attire, it’s a symbol of our community and shared values. Supplied by Stevenson’s, our uniform is smart, comfortable, and suitable for the diverse activities our pupils engage in. From the classic navy blazers to the distinctive owl logo, our uniform fosters a sense of belonging and pride among students.

Healthy eating for growing minds
We believe that good nutrition is essential for a child’s development. Our in-house chef, Hosanna, prepares fresh, nutritious meals daily, catering to a variety of dietary requirements and preferences. The menu includes a vegetarian option, a side dish, and a salad bar, featuring delicious choices like red lentil and leek korma curry or a five-bean and pepper burrito.
Themed cuisine days add excitement, celebrating different cultures and festivals. Parents are also welcome to join their children for lunch, making it a lovely opportunity to share mealtimes in our bright, spacious canteen hall.
A balanced and enriching curriculum
Our curriculum is designed to provide a well-rounded education that balances academic learning with personal development. Specialist teachers lead subjects such as music, Spanish, art, and games, ensuring that each child receives a broad and engaging education. From Reception through to Year 6, our students are encouraged to explore their interests and develop their talents in a supportive environment.

Beyond the classroom: trips and extracurricular activities
Learning at The Lyceum School extends beyond the classroom. We take full advantage of our central London location, organising trips to museums, galleries, and historic sites that enhance our curriculum. Students also participate in extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and creative arts, allowing them to discover new interests and build confidence.

Wrap-around care for busy families
We understand that working parents need flexibility. That’s why we offer wrap-around care from 8 am to 5:45 pm each day. Our Breakfast Club starts the day with a healthy meal, and after-school clubs provide a range of activities to keep children engaged and active.
