7+ Entry
Places are available for entry at Year 3 via the 7+ exam.
Scholarships
We currently offer two scholarships at the 7+ entry point – one academic and one for the creative arts (music, drama or art).
Our scholarships are competitive and offer a 10% fee reduction for the remainder of your child’s time at The Lyceum; provided they maintain their excellent academic standing or performance in music, art or drama. We will review this at the end of each academic year.

Additional Information for Scholarship Assessment

Applicants for the Academic Scholarship will sit an assessment in English and Maths and be interviewed by the Headmaster or a member of the Senior Leadership Team.
The assessments will last no more than an hour per subject covering spelling, grammar, punctuation and reading comprehension in English while the Maths assessment will cover mental maths, and applying and understanding mathematics.
Creative Arts Scholarship Information (Music)
We are looking to hear pupils of grade 2 – 3 standard and above on an instrument.
An audition will consist of a prepared piece, sight reading and aural tests.
Candidates should show evidence of real musical ability and offer to perform a piece of grade 2 -3 standard or above on an instrument or if they are offering 2 instruments, 1 piece on each instruments. Only one instrument needs to be of grade 2-3 standard.
It is not essential for candidates to have taken music examinations, but as a guide, the standard expected will correspond with recognised exam boards. We welcome children to offer a song in addition if they wish to. We would also need to know about how long they have been playing their instrument.
Music scholars will be guided through their time at The Lyceum with excellent professional tutors as well as taking a role in the school’s Big Band and orchestra.
Creative Arts Scholarship Information (Drama and Art)
For drama, candidates will have an active interest in performance and perhaps have performed at some level. They will be asked to deliver some type of prepared performance.
For art, candidates will have a keen interest in visiting galleries and exhibitions. They may even have exhibited their own work or have entered age-relevant art competitions. They will be asked to demonstrate their work in some format.
For drama and art candidates, assessment will depend on their chosen medium so please let us know more information about the candidate on your application.
