The Early Years Foundation Stage unit comprises a Reception class and a Nursery class. It is located in a self-contained area on the ground floor of the Lyceum building. There is a good deal of cooperation between the two classes allowing children to develop at their own rate whilst being encouraged to share, explore and engage in new experiences.
Both classes follow the Foundation Stage Curriculum and the children in the Reception class regularly achieve beyond its requirements.
There are two teachers and two nursery nurses working in the unit.
The children bring a packed lunch to school, a piece of fruit for morning snack and a water bottle for drinking throughout the day.
Both classes go to our outdoor classroom and garden at Bunhill Park every day for outdoor play and teaching activities.
From the EYFS onwards, the pupils’ personal development is excellent. Within an atmosphere of friendship, respect and trust, pupils become confident, articulate and responsible young people. – ISI Oct 2014
