Mrs Wareing

Mrs Wareing was born in Harrogate, North Yorkshire but was desperate to head to the capital after graduating and hasn’t returned North since. After several years working in the charity sector and at the BBC, she decided to spend two weeks in a primary school to see if that might suit her. It was a pivotal moment, watching a skilled teacher engage a group of children in their learning and she was offered a role in the school at the end of the placement – training whilst teaching through a Graduate Teacher Programme.

Mrs Wareing joins The Lyceum School after 15 years of teaching at a three-form primary school in Tower Hamlets. She is passionate about teaching and loves the thrill of watching children learn and grow. Her experience is largely in upper Key Stage 2, where she has relished the challenge of preparing the children for senior school. As a history graduate from Lancaster University, she loves the arts but also has a passion for maths, taking on Maths Lead for 5 years in her previous role. She also finds working with early career teachers to be hugely rewarding and has mentored many student teachers over the years.

Outside of school, she is kept busy with a very lively toddler. She loves running, cycling and travelling the country on the family narrowboat, Kathleen.
