From Nursery to Reception at The Lyceum

Sharing a building with our nursery partners makes the move to Reception feel natural. Children at Hopes and Dreams already know our building, our staff and many of our pupils.

  • Priority entry: nursery children are eligible for priority entry to The Lyceum’s Reception class and to other Dukes schools. Places are not guaranteed.
  • Shared experiences: cross-age activities, joint trips, shared assemblies and story time with our Reception pupils.
  • A gentle transition: Reception entry is non-selective and based on an informal observation, so the move feels familiar rather than daunting.
  • Bonus offer: We can offer a 15% discount on fees and a free second-hand uniform for children moving from Hopes and Dreams into our Reception class.

In Reception, children follow the EYFS curriculum with weekly STEAM, Spanish, Music, PE and Yoga taught alongside phonics and early maths.
