Reading in Unusual Places Competition
We have been reading anywhere and everywhere! All of the children deserve a big well done for getting creative and finding lots of fantastic places to read. A special mention to our winners Luca (Nursery), GG (Year 4) and Annie (Year 6) and Lottie (Year 1) for being chosen by our panel of judges as the winners! A very big thank you to all children and parents for showing so much enthusiasm and creativity in your entries.
Jane Ray Visit
The entire school was buzzing with excitement last Friday when author and illustrator Jane Ray came to visit. Both the children and teachers were extremely excited to meet Jane and participate in some brilliant workshops. Jane read to each and every child in the school and carried out workshops with Year 1-6. Year 1 and 2 created elephants like in The Elephant’s Garden, Year 3 and 4 designed unicorn heads like in The Unicorn Prince and Year 5 and 6 designed mirrors like in The Glassmakers Daughter. Many children came to the book sale after school to purchase a book and have it signed by Jane. Thank you to all parents for your enthusiasm and support in welcoming Jane Ray to The Lyceum!
World Book Day
What a brilliant 2019 World Book Day we have had at The Lyceum. Every single child put an enormous amount of effort into transforming themselves into a book character. So many children also brought the book their character was from to share with their class. What a lovely day to celebrate books, reading and the creativity we have in our school. The children showed off their costumes confidently during our assembly and looked absolutely brilliant. The excitement and enthusiasm was contagious! Thank you so much to all parents for your efforts in putting together the costumes.
