N.S. Blackman, the author of The Secret Dinosaur, came to visit The Lyceum on Monday. He read the children some of the book, bringing it to life with the extra details about his characters that he didn’t include in the text. This was a wonderful, real-life example for the children of the process of characterisation. He did workshops with each bay discussing his inspiration, modelling his writing process and demonstrating his illustrations. He also showed the children a beautiful, framed illustration which will be first prize in a completion to be launched during science week so watch this space!
